It's nothing special for artists to start a solo career if they are in groups or bands. Bizarre, who was in hip-hop group D12 started a solo career, but however he was not successful at all, bad music, bad commercial music, don’t check him out. Mick Jagger, lead singer of rock group The Rolling Stone started a solo career a few years ago. Reakwon and RZA of rap group Wu Tang Clan both started a solo career a few years ago, as a result they both where successful. But as noticed here, everyone here used vocals, but is it possible to make a solo album with using drums? Yes, kinda, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker's "Give the Drummer Some" proves it's more than possible to use just drums in an album. But why is it more of a big deal this time? Because Give The Drummer Some is mostly a hip-hop album. Travis Barker, a drummer for a punk band is using his drums on hip-hop music, and as a result, the album was really something unique, and very entertaining.

Travis Barker brought so many different sounds on this album. He handled all the drum work and production, as expected. But the guest appearances where many, and huge, more guest appearances than a Dr. Dre or Timbaland album would have, which was a good thing, and a bad thing, it's good because we got to see Travis work with artists like Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg, Tech N9ne, Kid Cudi, Game, and a lot more, and it's a bad thing because as it's a Travis Barker album, and given that Travis Barker is a drummer, more drum work was expected, the drum work on the album was a lot  less than I expected.

Travis made a ton of memorable tracks on this album. " Let's Go" was one of the best, Busta Rhymes, Twista, and Yelawolf all delivered extremely fast verses to complement Travis' excellent drum work and beat on the song. "Raw Shit" which featured Tech N9ne and Bun B was exactly how it was described, the song was raw, and Tech N9ne delivered one of the best verses of his career. "Beat Goes On" which featured Cypress Hill was very aggressive, and it had an excellent drum solo at the end. "Devil's Got a Hold of Me" was memorable, as usual Travis got a great beat going, and Shady's newest members, rap group Slaughterhouse brought in some great verses as expected, and "Let The Drummer Get Some" had probably one of the best drum works on the album, plus Game, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross all brought in there A-Game on that track.

The album did have some weaker tracks though, "If You Want To" which featured Lupe Fiasco and Pherell was good, but it wasn’t up to it's potential. "Saturday Night" was acceptable, but the worst track on the album thanks to it being too soft. "Knockin'" which featured Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, E-40 and Dev did not reach its potential, Dev, Luda, and E-40 all did good, but why did Snoop have to be on the song? And "Cool Head" which featured Kid Cudi was mainly acceptable, but the hook was what saved it from being the worst on the album.

Travis Barker was very creative with "Give The Drummer Some". It had many extremely entertaining and successful tracks, but it did have a few let downs though, But none the less, it's still the beginning of the year, and by looking at the music industry I don’t think thngs are gonna go really good critically, and I feel like this album will hold on to becoming one of the best albums of the year.
